👇 See Checklist on How to do it
Gear Setup
  • Phone (use the back camera, not the selfie cam, for better quality and eye contact)
  • Wireless mics (one for backup or external recording)
  • Selfie stick/tripod (tall enough to reach head height, so you don't rely on tables/chairs)
  • Laptop or printed script (to keep lines visible)
Camera Settings
  • Open your phone's default camera app.
  • Switch to Video mode → Wide or Extra wide lens (helps keep you framed).
  • Set to 4K, 30fps.
  • Keep the camera rolling and hit pause between takes so you don't end up with dozens of tiny clips.
Shooting Process
  • Hook: Start with a visually interesting action (standing on a balance board, holding a flowerpot, eating a banana—doesn't need to relate to the content).
  • Cut after every line: Modern audiences expect quick cuts for engagement.
  • Repeat takes until delivery feels right. Mistakes are fine—just redo them.
Framing & Angles
  • Change rooms or angles to create visual variety.
  • Use props (coffee cup, laptop, etc.) to add movement and break monotony.
  • Mix sitting, standing, and moving shots for a dynamic flow.
Closing & Call to Action

Editing
  • Because all takes are in one continuous recording with pauses, it's easier to manage upload/downloads, and stitch each line in post.
  • Every line becomes its own shot in the final edit.
Script Strategy
  • Break your script into single lines or short ideas.
  • Examples:
  • Line 1: Here's the truth: doing all your content yourself looks scrappy until it looks sloppy
  • Line 2: Missed posting days, videos sitting on your phone, edits that take forever.
  • Line 3: Meanwhile, your competitors batch film, outsource editing, and stay consistent.
  • Line 4: Content creation isn't about talent—it's about systems.
  • Line 5: If you don't have one, your message gets buried, even if it's brilliant.

Start With Your Phone
Phones are perfect for short-form content. Always use the back camera, set it to 4K / 30fps, and wipe the lens clean before recording.
Framing with the CHIEFS Method
  • Chin centered vertically
  • Head space = one hand's width
  • I = camera at eye level
  • Elbows (or lower) in frame for better posture
  • Face centered left-to-right
  • Shout distance = mic is a "shaka" away from your mouth
Audio Matters
A wireless mic gives clear sound and flexibility. Without one, you're limited to quiet spaces and close distance.
Upgrade Options
The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is a great step up — crisp video, built-in stabilizer, and face tracking for easy framing.
Tripod Tips
Choose a tripod that can reach eye level from the floor. Stability + height = freedom to film anywhere without extra setup.
iPhone Mirroring App
Mirror your phone to your laptop so you can frame yourself perfectly—while using the phone's back camera.
